Van Cliburn competition

February 18th, 2009 1 comment
The last couple of days, I’ve attending theĀ screening audition recitals for theĀ Thirteenth Competition of Van Cliburn International Piano Competition at Rockefeller University. I always appreciate classical music performers in that they make me possible to meet the great composers. Although I’ve attended recitals of many virtuosos in New York, I love to go to these kinds of competition because it’s more immersive than big concert halls and there is a chance to listen a piece of contemporary music or rarely played one. This time, I could meet A. J. Kernis’s Superstar Etude No.2 and Medtner’s Sonata tragica, Op. 39, No. 5 among others. You can watch the live stream online at www.cliburn.org during May 22 – Jun 7, 2009 when the competition is held in Fort Worth, Texas.
